The ISSA Wata Manning Cup continues on Tuesday with some intriguing match-ups as Excelsior High, Tivoli Gardens High, St Catherine High and Vauxhall High hunt two of the quarter-final spots available in two groups. All games are scheduled to start at 3:00 pm.

In Group 1, former champions Excelsior High which last won in 2004, are embroiled in a do-or-die match with Tivoli Gardens High — the 1999 winners as both teams hunt a spot. Both teams are on three points.

However, Excelsior are in second spot based on the better goal difference and they only need a draw at home while Tivoli Gardens must win.

St Andrew Technical High School (STATHS) lead the group with six points and have secured one of the two spots from the group, they will face a deflated Wolmer’s Boys team sitting at the bottom of the group, pointless at Calabar High School.

In Group 3, last season’s beaten finalist St Catherine could be eliminated as they are sitting in third spot on a point, they tackle an already eliminated St George’s College at the Spanish Town Prison Oval.

In the other Group 3 encounter, leaders Charlie Smith High on six points play second-placed Vauxhall High on four points at Winchester par, St George’s College. Only a draw is needed by Charlie Smith to finish as the group winners.

But Vauxhall High cannot afford to lose as they could be surpassed by St Catherine High, who will be hoping to beat St George’s College big and sneak in through the goal difference route.

At the day, two teams will join Charlie Smith and STATHS as qualifiers for the quarterfinals with Vauxhall and Excelsior fancied.
