This 30-minute animated television special has stood the test of time. A Charlie Brown Christmas is based on the comic strip Peanuts, which follows the life of the ever so Debby-downer Charlie Brown who does not sit well with the commercialism he sees around him for the Christmas holiday.
In an effort to find a deeper meaning for the Christmas season, Charlie Brown takes his friend’s advice and becomes the director of the school Christmas pageant. All his attempts, however, do not go as planned and he ultimately relies on his friend to aid him in finding the true meaning of Christmas.

4. How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Family/Fantasy . 1hr 45mins

Third to Jesus and Santa Claus respectively, The Grinch is arguably next in line as the most popular Christmas figure. The film adapted from Dr Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas stars Jim Carey as The Grinch.
The Grinch, who loves and lives in solitude, despises all the people of the town and the Christmas holiday. Although the revenge-seeking Grinch has plans to ruin the entire holiday for the town, Cindy-Lou, a six-year-old girl played by Taylor Momsen, makes it her duty to change his attitude.
3. A Carol Christmas (2003)
Comedy . 2hrs

Carol Cartman, played by Tori Spelling, is a mean-spirited, miserable and egomaniacal TV talk show host in need of some Christmas spirit. Cartman, who is determined to ruin Christmas around the office, is paid a much-needed visit by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, and gifted the chance at redemption. This is one classic that is sure to lift your spirits and help you see why it pays to be kind.
2. Elf (2003)
Family/comedy . 1hr 37mins

The tear-jerker starring Will Farrell follows the life of Buddy, a human raised by elves at the North Pole. When he discovers that he is in fact a human and not an oversized elf, Buddy takes a trip from the North Pole to New York to find his biological father who is unaware of his existence and in desperate need of some Christmas spirit. He tries to bond with his father and his father’s family, which at first seems futile but ends on a pretty high note.
1. Home Alone (1990)
Comedy . 1hr 33mins

A Christmas movie list is never complete without this classic right here.
“KEVIN!!”
Home Alone, starring Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, follows the McCallister family who prepare for their vacation to Paris, France, but forget the youngster, who is left ‘home alone’.
The eight-year-old is at first content with having the house all to himself, until a pair of thieves try to break in. But being the mischievous kid he is, he cleverly fights back in the most humorous ways possible. This timeless film has gone on to have sequels with the second, also starring Culkin.
