Disney has kicked up excitement by announcing that Freakier Friday will hit cinemas on 8 August 2025, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan returning to their iconic roles as Tess and Anna Coleman.
Twenty-one years later, the long-anticipated sequel centres around Anna Coleman’s upcoming wedding, where, unsurprisingly, things take a freaky turn. The notorious body-swapping mayhem that characterised the first film returns, with new surprises in store.

While Disney is keeping plot details mostly under wraps, according to The Economic Times the beloved duo won’t be swapping bodies alone this time. In addition to the original bunch, a few confirmed new cast members include Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Manny Jacinto, bringing even more chaotic exchanges into the fray.
Excitingly, Nisha Ganatra, a Golden Globe winner and Emmy nominee, will direct the film, adding to her already impressive directorial repertoire.
The film’s quirky premise and nostalgic charm have already ignited excitement, with fans anxiously awaiting a modern take on the beloved classic.
