Ace Jamaican sprinter Shericka Jackson emerged victorious over compatriot Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to win the women’s 100-metre final at the penultimate Wanda Diamond League meet in Brussels, Belgium on Friday (September 2).

Running out of lane three, Jackson stormed to a 10.73-second finish ahead of Fraser-Pryce (10.74s) and Ivorian Marie-Josée Ta Lou, who claimed third place (10.78s).

Jackson was just two-hundredths of a second behind the meet record set by Elaine Thompson-Herah nearly six years ago in the King Baudouin Stadium.

On 27 points, Jackson is just behind Ta Lou for this season’s Diamond League title in the blue-ribbon 100m event, with the finals set for Weltklasse in Zurich, Switzerland next week.
