Dancehall artiste Jahshii on Friday (April 7) released his first solo single for 2023, God’s Plan.

Born Mluleki Tafari Clarke, Jahshii has been charting a steady path since his 2021 breakout. His passionate delivery and lyrics are what set him apart and have made his hits like Born Fighter and Cream Of The Crop, even more revered in the dancehall circuit. God’s Plan, as the name suggests, is all about following a divine path and speaks to Jahshii’s own recent decision to step back from the scene a bit and ‘lock in’ and do some introspection.

The single was produced by producer Dominic ‘Troublemekka’ McDonald who initially brought the idea for the single to Jahshii.

“I knew it was gonna be something special for him; I knew it would connect on a different level. When I played it for him, after the first 10 seconds he said ‘this is it’ and he worked on it right away.”

“When I got the call to link up with him [Jahshii], I purposefully sat down and came up with this idea,” Troublemekka said.

“I knew it was gonna be something special for him; I knew it would connect on a different level. When I played it for him, after the first 10 seconds he said ‘this is it’ and he worked on it right away.”

The single also holds somewhat of a personal sentiment to Troublemekka himself as he navigates his own trials.

Troublemekka, who possesses a number of credits from artistes like Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, Rygin King, Blvk H3ro, Nation Boss, Chronic Law, Topmann, and more, has a penchant for curating sounds that tell a story. So, it was a no-brainer that he and Jahshii would collaborate on a track like this.

God’s Plan is out now across all DSPs and is being released with visuals shot by Shane Creative. The video, shot in Ocho Rios, employs the use of a surrealist technique, underscoring the message of the single.
