Yesterday’s Jamaica Carnival was a huge hit, and this event just keeps getting bigger.
When GenXS’ Kibwe McGann says Jamaica’s Carnival can become one of the biggest in the world, people initially scoffed. Who’s laughing now? Jamaica’s carnival now galvanises the entire city of Kingston.
Minister of Entertainment, Culture and Sport, Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange estimates that earnings from this year’s carnival surpassed that of the previous year with a 10 per cent greater economic impact.
Minister of Tourism Ed Bartlett said that carnival’s direct economic impact in 2024 was J$4.2 billion, with a total economic contribution of J$95.4 billion when factoring the multiplier effect.
Happy days!
