Caribbean launch planned for Jamaica

The Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre (GTRCMC) will today (February 17) launch a book on tourism resilience, recovery, and global development at the ongoing World Expo 2020 in Dubai.
The book, titled ‘Tourism Resilience, Recovery and Sustainability for Global Development: Navigating COVID-19 and the Future’, is edited by Professor Lloyd Waller, executive director, GTRCMC, and Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett.
Following the soft launch in Dubai, there will a Caribbean launch in Jamaica.
The book, along with other publications, will be tabled in Parliament when Bartlett makes his presentation during the upcoming Budget Debate. It is already available for purchase on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Details of the publication
The book looks at the experiences of different destinations in managing resilience and features emerging challenges that the tourism space will have to contend in the future, including cyber-security and crime, the dark web, and crypto-currencies. Emerging options is another key area of focus in the book.
The publication includes case studies, best practices and lessons learned during the pandemic.
Speaking with journalists recently, Waller said the publication would “add value to the ability of various organisations and institutions that are trying to recover from the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, making their recovery faster”.
He added: “It will provide a framework for an understanding of what tourism resilience is and [its] importance for global sustainability.”
Waller said the publication “looked at how non-fungible tokens can be used as a mechanism to advertise destinations, especially among millennials and Generation COVID”.
