Jamaica proudly took centre stage at the Cannes Film Festival during Caribbean Day at Pavillon Afronova with the official launch announcement of Screen Odyssey, the first-ever Caribbean Cinematic Cruise experience, positioning Jamaica at the forefront of film tourism, cultural innovation, and entertainment in the Caribbean.

The groundbreaking initiative was presented by Joy Roberts, Executive Director of Jamaica Vacations Ltd. (JAMVAC), alongside Danica Robinson-Liles, owner of WES Film Studios, and Karine Barclais, founder of Pavillon Afronova.

Set to sail throughout the Western Caribbean in Spring 2027, Screen Odyssey will merge cinema, tourism, culture, networking, and immersive Caribbean experiences into one pioneering international platform. The cruise initiative aims to spotlight Jamaica and the wider Caribbean as premier destinations for filmmaking, entertainment investment, and cultural exchange.

The announcement marked a major milestone for Jamaica’s growing presence in the global film and tourism industries, reinforcing the island’s commitment to expanding opportunities in creative tourism and international production partnerships.

As Jamaica continues to establish itself as a leading destination for film, culture, and tourism, initiatives like Screen Odyssey create new pathways for collaboration, economic growth, and global visibility for the Caribbean.

Developed through the collaborative vision of Pavillon Afronova and WES Film Studios, Screen Odyssey will bring together filmmakers, artists, producers, tourism leaders, investors, and global audiences aboard a one-of-a-kind cinematic journey across the Caribbean Sea.

The initiative represents a cultural movement connecting the Caribbean, Africa, and the global diaspora through storytelling, music, film, and shared experiences, while further positioning Jamaica as a creative hub for international productions and cultural tourism.

Held annually during the Cannes Film Festival, Pavillon Afronova has become a premier platform celebrating African and Afro-diasporic cinema, innovation, and cultural exchange, welcoming creatives and industry leaders from more than 60 countries worldwide.
