The Jamaica Meteorological Service has upgraded its flash flood watch to cover low-lying and flood-prone areas of all parishes, as a trough continues to drench the island.

The Met Service, in a Tuesday afternoon (April 19) advisory, said the flash flood watch would remain in effect until 5:00 pm tomorrow.

“Observational data indicate that light to moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms occurred across sections of most parishes throughout this afternoon and is expected to linger into the night,” the Met Service explained.

“The forecast is for light to moderate and at times heavy showers to continue this evening into tonight across most parishes. Light to moderate morning showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected across sections of north-central and eastern parishes, with moderate to heavy afternoon showers and thunderstorms across sections of most parishes,” the agency added.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures expected for major Jamaican cities Kingston and Montego Bay are respectively 24 and 23 degrees Celcius.
