Statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) indicate that 783 Jamaicans were murdered this year as of Saturday, August 31.

Despite the still high figure in murders, the data shows that there has been 15.8 per cent decline in murders, with 147 fewer murders taking place.

The St James Police Division continues to lead the tally with 92 murders, followed by Westmoreland, 68, St Catherine South, 67, and St Catherine South, 59.

Murders were recorded in all police divisions up to the period.

There are, however, declines in shootings, rape, robberies and break-ins.
