Statistics from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) indicate that 918 Jamaicans were murdered this year as of Sunday, October 20.

Despite the still high figure in murders, the data shows that there has been a 19.3 percent decline in murders, with 219 fewer murders taking place compared to the same period last year.

The St James Police Division continues to lead the tally with 110 murders, followed by the St Andrew South Police Division, 86, Westmoreland, 82, and St Catherine North, 76.

Murders were recorded in all police divisions up to the period.

There are, however, declines in shootings, rape, robberies, and break-ins.
