Jamaica Producers Shipping Services acquires Miami Freight and Shipping

Group expanding its logistics business in Florida

Jamaican conglomerate, Jamaica Producers Group is expanding in Florida as its UK-based subsidiary, JP Shipping Services Limited, has acquired Miami Freight and Shipping Company.

Miami Freight and Shipping Company is a Florida corporation that has been engaged in the freight handling, logistics, and shipping business for more than 40 years. JP Shipping Services Limited is a freight-forwarding and logistics enterprise with warehousing, transport and commercial operations in the UK.

The operations of Jamaica Producers Shipping Services Limited handle cargo movements to all of the major Caribbean markets. JP Shipping Services Limited has been in business for over 80 years.

JP Group’s other logistics interests include Kingston Wharves Limited, a leading regional multi-purpose port and Geest Line Limited, a market leading UK-based shipping line connecting European, Caribbean and Latin America markets.

Jamaica Producers executives lauds the acquisition

Commenting on the acquisition, Jamaica Producers Group CEO Jeffrey Hall notes that “in adding a North American spoke, this acquisition marks an important expansion of JP’s diversified logistics and shipping platform that connects the world’s major markets to the Caribbean”.

Speaking on Jamaica Producer’s strategy for business development in logistics through the recent acquisition, Group Chief Commercial Officer Maya Walrond explained that “we see clear opportunities for growth in commercial cargo handling, e-commerce shipping, and export facilitation. JP is looking forward to growing in tandem with our customers, partners, and suppliers, all of whom can look forward to the continuation of excellent service from the Miami Freight and Shipping team led by Juliana Keene.”

Jamaica Producers Group is a Jamaican-owned multinational with its primary businesses in specialty food and drink and logistics and infrastructure. JP owns and operates Hoogesteger Fresh Specialist B.V., the market leading fresh juice manufacturer supplying markets in Northern Europe, and is the largest shareholder of CoBeverage Lab S.L., a fresh juice manufacturer supplying Southern Europe.

Jamaica Producer’s specialty food interests include Tortuga International, manufacturer and supplier of Tortuga Rum and Spirit cakes and JP Snacks Caribbean, a regional producer of tropical snacks and frozen ready-to-cook products. Jamaica Producers Farms, Jamaica’s leading commercial banana farm, is the largest private sector employer in St Mary, Jamaica.

JP Group’s logistics interests include Kingston Wharves Limited, the Caribbean’s leading multipurpose port and logistics provider, Geest Line Limited, a UK-based shipping line connecting European, Caribbean and Latin America markets, and JP Shipping Services a freight forwarding and logistics enterprise based in the UK.

JP is the joint venture holder of Grupo Alaska, an ice and water company in the Dominican Republic.
