The Jamaica Table Tennis Association continued its impressive run at the CAC Games qualifiers in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, delivering a commanding and composed 3-0 victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines to move one step closer to a quarterfinal place.

From the opening ball, Jamaica imposed control, displaying superior structure, discipline, and execution across all three matches in a performance that highlighted both individual quality and growing team cohesion.

In the opening rubber, Azizi Johnson set the tone for the Jamaican side with a measured and intelligent performance against Macahlie Hazelwood. After edging a competitive first game 11-9, Johnson raised his level to take the next two games 11-7 and 11-4, using placement and patience to steadily break down his opponent and secure the early advantage for Jamaica.

The second encounter saw Brian Blake produce one of the most dominant displays of the tie. Facing Caleb Howard, Blake dictated play from the outset with aggressive shot selection, sharp tempo, and relentless pressure. He stormed through the first game 11-2 and maintained complete control to close out the next two 11-4, 11-4, extending Jamaica’s lead to 2-0 and effectively sealing the tie.

With the outcome already decided, Gmarco Smith completed the clean sweep in composed fashion. Smith demonstrated control and consistency throughout his match against Kimani Shoy, taking it 11-5, 11-9, 11-2 to confirm a flawless 3-0 result for Jamaica without dropping a single rubber.

The squad’s depth was further underlined by the presence of senior player Jayden Ebanks, who continues to play a key leadership role within the group, offering experience and stability as the team builds momentum in the competition.

For Jamaica, the victory was not just about the scoreline, but the manner in which it was achieved; efficient, controlled, and clinically executed across all matches. The team demonstrated strong tactical awareness, consistent shot quality, and the ability to close out games decisively when opportunities arose.

For St. Vincent and the Grenadines, there were brief moments of resistance, particularly early in the opening match, but they were ultimately unable to match Jamaica’s level of intensity and precision over the course of the tie.

The result sends a clear message to the rest of the field: Jamaica is not only competing at this level—they are asserting themselves as serious contenders at the CAC Games qualifiers.

“We stuck to the plan, applied pressure from the start, and finished strong. That’s the standard we’ve set for ourselves, and now it’s about carrying that same intensity into the next match,” said Aubyn Henry, chief strategy and development officer, Jamaica Table Tennis Association.

“A highly professional and disciplined performance from the team. A commanding 3-0 victory like this highlights the players’ preparation and growing cohesion. We’re very encouraged by the level of execution and composure on display as we look ahead to a crucial matchup against Guatemala,” added Sean Wallace, general secretary, Jamaica Table Tennis Association.

Attention now turns to a crucial matchup against Guatemala, where Jamaica will contest a place in the quarterfinals.
