Jamaica will face Honduras for the top spot in Group D at the CONCACAF Women’s Under-17 Championship and a spot in the final round of 12 as the hunt for a FIFA World Cup continues tonight at 7:00 pm in Aruba.

It’s really a must-win game for Jamaica’s Under-17 Reggae Girlz as they sit in second spot on seven points, two adrift of group leaders Honduras on nine points. Guyana are in third spot on four points, with Aruba fourth on three points. St Vincent and the Grenadines are at the bottom, pointless.

The six group winners and the best two second-place teams will advance to the Concacaf Women’s Under-17 qualifying final round, involving 12 teams at this point. The likes of Mexico, the USA, Puerto Rico and Canada will join the fray.

The 12 teams will battle for four spots to the 2026 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup to be played in Morocco in October.

Nothing but a win would be good enough for Jamaica, as finishing as one of the best second-placed teams is not guaranteed for the Girlz, as currently Nicaragua and Cba are sitting in second spot in their groups on nine points.

Guatemala and Bermuda are also in second place in their groups with 7 points, so even a draw would eliminate the Reggae Girlz.

Honduras’ offence has tallied 21 goals, while only conceding two. Jamaica has scored eight and has only allowed one.  Honduras showed that they will be a tough nut, hammering St Vincent 15-0, while Jamaica could only score five on the same opponent. Jamaica drew 1-1 with Guyana, while Honduras dispatched them 3-1.

Jamaica has it all to do, but it is not beyond them; head coach Marlon Hilton is optimistic.

“We’re expecting a tough and competitive game, but the mood in the camp is positive and focused,” he told Our Today. “The players are prepared, confident, and ready to execute our game plan. Our aim is to stay disciplined, compete with intensity, and give a strong performance for Jamaica.”
