Jamaican-American rapper and songwriter Ackquille Jean Pollard, famously known as Bobby Shmurda, was released from the Clinton Correctional Facility this morning (February 23).

Shmurda, who was arrested in 2014, took a plea deal in September 2016 and was sentenced to seven years in prison on a second-degree criminal weapon and fourth-degree conspiracy charge.

Shmurda pleaded guilty in an effort to help his friend, Chad ‘Rowdy’ Rebel.

In a report from Complex.com, Shmurda had said at the time: “I did it for Rowdy.”

“They offered me five (years) and offered Rowdy 12. They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven, too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawg.”

The embodiment of ‘ride or die’ right!

Back then, the public was a little rowdy about how Shmurda’s case was being handled as many thoughts him being a public figure affected his chance at getting fair treatment from prosecutors.

Despite the comments, Shmurda spent time behind bars and is now out and ready to do the Hot N***a dance with his fans.

RELEASED ON CONDITIONAL TERMS

His release is on conditional terms, meaning he will serve the remainder of his sentence under community supervision until the maximum expiration date of February 23, 2026.

His official EP, Shmurda She Wrote, was released on November 10 later that year.

People like Shmurda because of his funloving personality and, when his music is played, listener literally rock from left to right.

So, on Monday (February 22), Shmurda took to popular social platform, Instagram and shared a story from his personal account, thanking fans for remaining loyal through his sentence.

“Thank you for remaining loyal and for riding this six-year sentence out with me, I love you all and look forward to seeing you soon.”

In an interview with Billboard magazine on Monday (February 22), American Rapper Quavo, revealed his plans to escort Shmurda from the correctional facility.

“I’m personally gonna go pick up Bobby Shmurda, I’m bout to go get him. I’m gonna let him show you how I’m gonna pick him up, yessir.”

According to a Complex.com report, Shmurda’s immediate plan is to spend time with his mother, Leslie Pollard, before making music again.
