Industry, Investment, & Commerce Minister, Senator Aubyn Hill has just completed an export and investment business mission to the United States, where he toured a distribution facility in Baltimore.

Minister Hill toured EMD Sales facility, which Jamaica supplies with raw materials in its production cycle. In fact, the Baltimore distribution facility, sources products from over 19 countries including Jamaica and distributes to major supermarket chains and independents in the North East USA. 

Jamaica’s U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) accreditation program was introduced to the management team of EMD Sales through the Jamaica National Agency of Accreditation (JANAAC) with Sharonmae Shirley, as its Chief Executive Officer. 

Shirley explains that this will help with easier access of goods into the USA market. JANAAC is the only accreditation body in the world that has 10 of the 11 scopes recognized by the U.S. FDA under the Accredited Third-Party Certification Program, and one of the only two outside of America.
