Jamaican chamber of commerce formed in Dominican Republic

A group of Dominican-Jamaican business leader,s with the endorsement of the Dominican Government, have formed the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce in the Dominican Republic (JAMCHAMDR).

Juan José Melo, president of the newly formed group, said: “With the inauguration of this Chamber, an institution is made available whose purpose is to continue strengthening the excellent commercial ties that unite the Dominican Republic and Jamaica, constituting a space for collaboration and support between companies, so that they can share experiences, learnings and use this platform to promote new business opportunities.”

He added that the entity will promote greater investments between both nations and the expansion of the existing ones as well.

Jamaica’s promotions agency, JAMPRO, is already hailing the move.

JAMPRO President Diane Edwards said the agency supports the creation of the Jamaica-Dominican Republic Chamber of Commerce.

“We are pleased to see our business relationship growing with companies like JP Foods, Magna Motors, IMCA, Newport Fersan and others,” Edwards said.

She concluded with much optimism that this will be a long and mutually beneficial partnership.
