End-of-year seasonal womenswear trends reigned supreme at the ‘La Hot Couture’ designer collections show at the AC Kingston Hotel last weekend.

The Deiwght Peters-led fashion event brought the curtains down on the three-day cultural, business and educational-focused Touch of France expo which is held biennially in the island’s capital city, and was first mounted at the inaugural staging of Touch of France in 2000.

Satin, tulle, lace, Ankara print and sequin fabrics featured prominently in the chic garments of the quintet of designers on show: Eliette LeSuperbe, Kadian Nicely, Sylvister, Mantel and Tamia Carey.
Meanwhile, seated front-row to take in the latest in Caribbean fashion were diplomats, power brokers and fashion enthusiasts.

Tamia Carey, who was making her debut as a Touch of France showcase designer, was thankful for the platform and for her first collaboration with SAINT’s chief executive officer Peters. “It was an unforgettable experience,” she told Our Today following the runway reveal of her 22-piece collection of prints, satins and georgettes titled ‘Festive by Tamia’.

“Deiwght’s mastery of production was awe-inspiring,” the designer added. “His vision and attention to detail are unmatched. When he calls, you can’t help but answer as his passion is contagious.”

Like Carey, another first-time designer at Touch of France, Sylvister was similarly effusive in his partnership with the fashion show.

“Debuting my collection on the show was a milestone moment. Seeing my vision come to life on the runway surrounded by the industry experts and peers validated my hard work and dedication,” Sylvister shared with Our Today of his 15-piece collection he named ‘The Eternal Rose’ and stitched with his velvet, lace and satin fabric choices.
