When the celebrated gospel icon CeCe Winans steps onto the stage at King’s House, East Lawn on Friday, August 1, it will not merely be a night of unforgettable music—it will be a powerful demonstration of what happens when faith, music, and compassion move in harmony.
The Jamaican leg of Winans’ More than This concert tour is already poised to be one of the country’s most significant cultural events of the year. But beyond the soulful melodies lies a purpose that runs far deeper: a commitment to meaningful, measurable impact across some of the island’s most vital charitable organisations.
At the heart of this initiative is a clear and compelling mission—100% of the net proceeds from the concert will benefit four transformational charities, with more to be named, each working on the frontlines to serve Jamaica’s most vulnerable.
Leading that list is the Ophthalmology Unit at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, the island’s only paediatric hospital and a lifeline for thousands of children in need of urgent and specialised eye care. The funds raised will support critical upgrades to diagnostic and surgical equipment, ensuring that children facing vision challenges receive the care they deserve in a modern, dignified environment.

Sharing at the recent launch of the event, Dr. Michelle-Ann Richards-Dawson, Senior Medical Officer at the Bustamante Hospital for Children, said: “This partnership is truly an answered prayer for the Bustamante Hospital for Children. As the only dedicated Paediatric Ophthalmology Department in Jamaica, we are committed to preserving the sight and futures of our children. Our team of skilled ophthalmologists works tirelessly, but our equipment is in urgent need of upgrade.
“Through this generous support, we hope to acquire a phacoemulsification machine and specialised cataract instrument sets—essential tools that will dramatically improve our ability to perform sight-saving surgeries. We are deeply grateful and inspired, knowing that together, we are giving children the precious gift of vision and a brighter future.”
Also receiving support is the Yadel Home for Children, a safe haven for displaced and at-risk youth. Rooted in love and resilience, Yadel provides not just shelter, but stability, education, and mentorship for children who have faced immense adversity. The concert’s contribution will help improve facilities, provide school supplies, and fund essential therapeutic services.
The Open Door Jamaica Foundation, founded by Dr. Terri-Karelle Reid, will also benefit from the initiative. Known for its deep engagement in community development for the disabled, Open Door focuses on empowerment through education, youth mentorship, and family support. Its inclusion speaks to the concert’s broader vision—not only to address immediate needs, but to build bridges to opportunity and self-sufficiency.
Additionally, the concert will lend its strength to the Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence (GGPE)—a distinguished national initiative that recognises and supports exceptional young Jamaicans who exemplify purpose-driven leadership, academic achievement, and civic responsibility. By investing in GGPE, More Than This signals its belief that Jamaica’s future lies in empowering its young changemakers.
Chairman and Event Executive Producer of the Come Alive Collective, Eric Hosin, the force behind bringing the tour to Jamaica, views this philanthropic effort as a natural extension of the concert’s message. “This event is about more than music—it’s about legacy. We want to inspire, but we also want to serve. Every ticket sold represents not just access to a world-class concert, but an investment in hope, healing, and a better Jamaica.”
With over 15,000 patrons expected, and a line-up that includes Jamaican gospel greats Chevelle Franklyn, Kevin Downswell, Prince Saj, and Johnmark Wiggan, the MORE THAN THIS concert will be both a spiritual experience and a cultural milestone. But its greatest measure of success may well be in the lives uplifted long after the final note fades. Because in the end, it is not just about what happens on stage. It is about what happens because of it.
