Mayor of Lauderhill, Jamaican Denise Grant, has been named in Legacy Magazine’s 2025 list of Florida’s Most Influential & Prominent Black Women in Business and Industry.

This prestigious recognition is a testament to the trust and support of the Lauderhill community for the mayor.

Grant said she is grateful to the residents, who entrusted her with the responsibility of leading the city and that the honour signifies that hard work, diligence, and dedication to public service do reap rewards.

“I thank God, the source of my existence, and thus dedicate this

achievement to my mother, whose unwavering support has been important to my journey. I am also inspired by the phenomenal Black women across South Florida who made this year’s list; their influence, leadership, and legacy are undeniable,” she said.

“This recognition is not just about me; it’s about the City of Lauderhill and our collective efforts to drive innovation, advance equity, and create opportunities for future generations. I am proud to lead a city that embodies these values, and I look forward to continuing our work together r to make Lauderhill shine.”

Here are some highlights of her 2025 tenure as mayor of Lauderhill:

  • Senior Utility Relief: Earmarking nearly $1 million to assist seniors with water bills, ensuring they can stay in their homes with dignity
  • Food Security Advance: Allocating $100,000 to address food insecurity among the most vulnerable populations
  • Lauderhill University: Launching a pioneering program to educate high school students about local government and civic engagement
  • Tea Time with Seniors: Fostering education, wellness, and connection for the senior population
  • Adopt a Park Initiative: Beautifying public spaces, strengthening community pride Mayor’s Listening Tour: Engaging in community conversations to shape policies and programmes
  • Mentoring and wellness initiatives for youths and student-athletes
  • Put forth a multimillion-dollar appropriation request to the State legislatures in Tallahassee to help improve our infrastructure, underground utilities, roads, lights, aging infrastructure, storm water etc.,
  • Community Cleanup Program: Engage 1000 residents and community leaders to join forces on January 10, 2026, working together to keep Lauderhill clean
