
Jamaica has recorded 474 murders up to Monday (May 27) as the bloodletting continues unabated island-wide.
According to the latest Serious Crimes Report published by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) despite the high figure, the country sees an 11.2 per cent decline in murders compared to the same period last year.
Up to May 27, 2023, 534 murders were reported.
The parishes of St James and Westmoreland, as well as the St Andrew South and St Catherine South police divisions recorded the highest number of murders for the period, with 60, 43, 39, and 37 homicides respectively.
Meanwhile, there has been a 15 per cent increase in shootings for the period.
Rapes, robberies, and break-ins have been on the decline.
