Jamaican industry and motorists will be met with a second consecutive week of baseline price increases, following the latest benchmark updates from State-owned refinery, Petrojam.

Petrojam, in its closely watched petroleum product price index, advised that 87-octane gasolene would cost J$2.58 more effective midnight Thursday (July 20), opening at an introductory cost of J$170.95 per litre.

Price increases were consistent for all oil-based commodity products on the Petrojam index.

The cost hike was arguably the most pronounced for automotive diesel and its ultra-low-sulphur derivative, which each rose J$2.63 and J$3.06 respectively.

It is expected that retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices.
