Jamaican motorists and business interests will pay incrementally more at the pumps this week, following the latest baseline price update by state-owned refinery, Petrojam.
Petrojam, in its closely watched petroleum product price index, advised that 87-octane gasolene will sell for $1.26 (or roughly five per cent) higher effective May 25, closing at J$168.65 per litre.
What’s more, the price increase are largely consistent for most products on Petrojam’s index, with the exception of propane, whose cost fell by a marginal 25 cents for a second-consecutive week .
The biggest single jumps were recorded for 87-octane and 90-octane gasolene, which rose by $1.26 respectively.
It is expected that retailers will add their mark-ups to the announced prices.
