The 24 Jamaican students who undertook a 20km journey from Lviv in Ukraine to the Poland border have arrived at an agreed border point and are waiting to go through.
In a video update this afternoon, Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, minister of foreign affairs and foreign trade, said however that two of the students are not feeling well, particularly one who was receiving treatment in an ambulance because she was impacted by the cold.
The minister noted that Jamaica’s Charge d’Affaires in Berlin Deniese Sealey and a team were on their way to the border with a heated bus to greet the students once they get to the other side.

Johnson Smith said it would take some time for the students to get through the border crossings due to the size of the crowds, but they should not have difficulty being allowed into Poland as that country’s foreign affairs ministry has acknowledged it has all their names.
She added that arrangements were also being made for flights back home for the students, once they become available.
