Jamaican students were top performers in 30 of the 35 subjects offered at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) level.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Education and Youth Fayval Williams.

“Recently, CSEC released the name of all our young men and women who were ranked in the top regionally across all subject areas in both CSEC and CAPE [Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Exam]. For CSEC, there were 35 subjects areas in which they were ranked in the top regionally for 30 different subject areas,” she said.

The areas in which the students underperformed were integrated Sscience, industrial technology-building, music, visual arts, and Portuguese.

The education ministry is also reporting that students received high pass rates at the CAPE level.
