Manufacturing company Jamaican Teas Limited is buying a property in Temple Hall, St. Andrew for its factory expansion.

The property in question comprises some 60,000 square feet of factory buildings on about three acres of land. The John Mahfood-led Jamaican Teas has recently entered into an agreement to acquire the Temple Hall property in with the sale set to close or before November 2023.

This property will be used to house Jamaica Teas’ manufacturing facilities now located at Bell Road and Montgomery Avenue in St Andrew. The company will begin relocating to the Temple Hall facility by the end of 2023.

This latest factory expansion follows closely on the heel of last year’s long-awaited expansion of its factory at 2E Bell Road in Kingston. The expansion resulted in the factory increasing its output by 50 per cent more non-tea products arising from the factory space expanding from 22,000 squared feet to 34,000 squared feet, when completed.

The factory expansion will allow the company to focus even more on exports, while concurrently addressing demand in its home market. With this expansion, Jamaican Teas expects its distributors to deepen the market penetration by expanding the customer base and the number of locations, especially in the United States.

Mahfood indicated that the Caribbean market, which has been growing at about 20 per cent per year, is also ripe for further expansion.
