Civil rights group Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) held its well-publicised protest on Tuesday (April 29), against police injustice and what it considers extra-judicial killings by the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF.).
The protest took place outside the Half-Way Tree Transportation Centre in St Andrew. It was generally peaceful with JFJ executive director Mickel Jackson stressing they were not anti-police but rather taking issue with rogue cops who do not follow procedure and are quick to shoot down citizens cold-bloodedly.
She also called for police personnel to wear body cameras when interfacing with the public.
It is claimed that 130 people protested, although it seemed they were outnumbered by police personnel.
JFJ has brought attention to the announcement that 108 people have been killed by the police so far this year. The protest took place on the same day it was announced that murders are down by 36.6 per cent as of April 26.
