Jamaican industry and the motoring public face another price increase at the pumps this week, following the latest regimen update by State-owned refinery, Petrojam.
Petrojam, in its closely watched petroleum product price index, advised that 87-octane gasolene will cost J$3.06 come midnight Thursday (March 21), to open at an introductory price of J$172.64, after applied taxes.
In a reversal of next-to-nothing cost reductions for the last two weeks, the price increase is mostly consistent across the Jamaican fuel index, being more pronounced for 87- and 90-octane gasolene, heavy fuel and kerosene oils as well as automotive diesel and its ultra-low sulphur counterpart, which rose $3.06 and $4.50 respectively.
It is expected retailers will add their respective mark-ups to the announced prices.
