Staff at General Accident Insurance Company (Jamaica) (GenAc) gave the gift of life during the blood drive hosted at the company’s headquarters last year. The National Blood Transfusion Service (Blood Bank) collected 50 units at the drive held in observance of World Blood Donor Day (June 14).

In observance of World Blood Donor Day on June 14, General Accident has invited the public to donate during the company’s annual blood drive on June 15 at 58 Half-Way Tree Road in St Andrew.

The six-hour blood drive will start at 9:30 am and end at 3:30 pm. General Accident customers and the public are encouraged to make an appointment to join the effort. Appointments can be made by visiting https:calendly.com/genacja or the GenAc social media pages. Participants are encouraged to register ahead of the drive to facilitate a smooth blood drive for everyone involved.

“We want you to enjoy a peaceful donating experience. Knowing the number of participants before June 15 helps the Genac team craft an accommodating atmosphere for our lifesaving heroes. Register early and donate comfortably,” said General Accident Executive Director Sharon Donaldson.

“Giving blood saves lives! It is important that we play our part in supporting healthcare in Jamaica by increasing the supply of the lifesaving substance.”

Last year’s blood drive saw the successful collection of 50 units by the National Blood Transfusion Service (Blood Bank). From the 50 units collected at the GenAc Blood Drive, the Blood Bank can save up to 150 lives.

With hopes high for this year’s turnout to exceed the previous staging, Donaldson noted:“ Giving blood saves lives! It is important that we play our part in supporting healthcare in Jamaica by increasing the supply of the lifesaving substance. If you are able to donate, we would be delighted to facilitate your donation at our offices on June 15.”

The General Accident annual blood drive is done in partnership with the Musson Foundation and the National Blood Transfusion Service (Blood Bank). The company continues to offer support to national development through health, education and protection of the environment.
