
Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee meets next week to start its examination of the 2024/2025 national budget of J$1.3 trillion.
This is a slight increase over the J$1.26 trillion budget for the current fiscal year. The budgeted expenditures for the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), and ministries of tourism, finance, health and wellness, and national security will be examined on Day One, Tuesday, March 5.
The expenditures for the Ministry of Legal and Constitutional Affairs, and the education, transport, justice, agriculture, and economic growth ministries will be examined on Day Two, Wednesday, March 6.
The expenditures of the labour, culture, and foreign affairs ministries, as well as the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, will be examined on the final day.
Finance Minister Dr Nigel Clarke disclosed two weeks ago that the 2024/2025 National Budget would be financed by revenue and grant receipts totalling J$1 trillion, along with loans and other financing of J$0.3 trillion.
