Reggae Girl Khadija “Bunny” Shaw continued to rewrite the history books as she became the record hat-trick scorer in the Barclays Women’s Super League, scoring three goals in Manchester City’s 4-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, November 8.
Shaw who was given the match ball, overtook Vivianne Miedema’s five hattricks with her sixth and also became the first player to score three hatticks against one team.
Shaw’s three-timer pushed City to 19 points from seven games and opened a four-point lead atop of the table ahead of defending champion Chelsea on 15 but from five games.
Shaw was in devastating form and had no sympathy for her fellow Reggae Girls Rebecca Spencer in goal and Drew Spence for Spurs.
Shaw opened the scoring after just 23 seconds robbing defender Clare Hunt and slotted home before doubling the advantage nodding home Lauren Hemp’s cross in minute 15.
Dutch player Jill Roord made it 3-0 in minute 66 and Shaw completed her hattrick seconds later slotting home Hemp’s cross at the back post in the 67th minute.
Jamaica’s record goalscorer with 42 goals from 55 games, the 27-year-old Shaw now has 12 goals in five games against her teammates at Spurs and her seven goals lead the 2024 Golden Boot race.
