
Jamaica’s COVID-19 death toll on Sunday (October 10) hit the 2,000 mark. This comes as the country recorded five more COVID-19 deaths.
The latest individuals to pass from the virus were primarily in the 70 and older age demographic.
However, a 43 year old female from St. Catherine and a 52 year old female from Trelawny also passed from the virus.
Though COVID-19 hospitalizations have been trending down, the number of persons being infected remains high.
In the latest clinical summary, the country recorded 221 new cases of the virus; the majority of which were registered in Kingston and St Andrew.
The new COVID-19 infections push the overall total of those infected with the virus since the start of the pandemic to 86, 126.
To date Jamaica has over 29,000 active cases with over 400 persons hospitalized with the illness.
