OT TOKYO | Jamaica’s Knight-Wisdom reaches the semis of three metres springboard diving

Jamaica’s Yona Knight-Wisdom advances to the semi-finals of the men’s three metres springboard diving event at the Tokyo Olympic Games on Monday (August 2).

Knight-Wisdom needed to finish in the top 18 to progress and scored 411.65 points to place 13th of the 29 divers to make Tuesday’s semi-finals, where he will have to finish in the top 12 to advance to the final the same day.

The top three divers moving into the semi-finals are China’s Zongyuan Wang, who scored 531.30 points and Siyl Zie who had 520.90 points and Mexico’s Rommet Pacheco with 479.25.

Knight-Wisdom in the pike position of the forward 3.5 somersaults scored 75.95 points and got 40.80 in the inward 3.5 somersaults tuck position.

He was judged to score 72.00 points in the forward 2.5 somersaults one twist pike position, which he also did for a score of 67.50 in the back 2.5 somersaults.

In his final two dives, he got 84.00 and 71.40 in the reverse 3.5 somersaults tuck position and forward 2.5 somersaults two twists pike position respectively.
