Jamaca’s Mount Pleasant will meet Universidad O&M FC of the Dominican Republic in the first leg of the 2025 CONCACAF Caribbean Cup at the Estadio Cibao, Santiago De Los Caballeros. Match time is 6:00 pm Jamaican time this evening.

Mount Pleasant will be hoping to keep the Caribbean Cup in Jamaica following Cavalier’s success in 2024. Head coach Theodore Whitmore said his team is deserving of a spot in the final and is looking forward to the match.

But despite the lack of proper preparation caused by the passage of Hurricane Melissa on Tuesday, October 28, Whitmire said his squad is ready.

“We are chasing history, and mentally we are ready. I think we have done enough, the preparation and everything has been fine,” said Whitmore.

Mount Pleasant will start heavy favourite, being the top team in the competition throughout. But despite a 2-0 win over Universidad O&M FC in the group stage, Whitmore is not taking that for granted. “We don’t want to look at the games that we play amongst each other. It’s a different game. The focus, the mentality, everything has to be different. It’s a final. Everybody wants it. So, the mindset has to be different,” he pointed out.

Mount Pleasant booked its place in the Caribbean Cup Final after ousting Defence Force FC 5-2 on aggregate in the semifinals.

Mount Pleasant went through the first stages of the competition without conceding a goal, winning five games on the trot. Their first goal conceded was in the first leg of the semis, where they won 5-1 before falling 0-1 to Defence Force in the second leg of the semi-final.
