Jamaica will host Guatemala in their top-of-the-table Group E clash to determine the group winners as the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers continue at the National Stadium on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
Both Jamaica and Guatemala are on nine points from three games, with Guatemala on top by virtue of a better goal difference.
Both teams have advanced to the third round of the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, hence, the pressure to deliver a good result is not so critical.
Jamaica are coming off an uninspiring 1-0 win over the lowly British Virgin Islands, while Guatemala whipped Dominican Republic 4-2 over the weekend.
Jamaica’s head coach Steve McClaren pointed out that this game is a crucial one as they face Guatemala again in the Gold Cup soon, hence, they need to win on Tuesday.

“You know, it’s a very crucial one. It’s very important. Every game is important for us. It’s important to win the games, and however you do that, you should just find a way to win,” said McClaren.
“We’ve got to do that again against a very good Guatemalan team, who we face again in the Gold Cup. So, it’s gonna be an intriguing two games, but we focus on tomorrow,” he pointed out. “We want to finish top of the group. I think both teams are delighted just to qualify for the final stages. We look forward to that, and it’s more for pride tomorrow,” McClaren explained.
The last time Jamaica met Guatemala at home in a World Cup qualifier was in June 2012, with the Reggae Boyz emerging 2-1 victors with goals from Demar Phillips and Ryan Johnson.
