Jashii will make his debut at the 29th staging of Rebel Salute debut on Friday (January 20) at Plantation Cove in St Ann.
The dancehall artiste has created a name for himself in the music industry since his rise to fame with popular hits such as 25/8, Keep Up and Energy.
“Right now, it’s an overwhelming feeling to be a part of this stage – Rebel Salute. I’m just anticipating my performance, anxious about rehearsals for the show… this is a platform that I look up to even before I stepped out on the platform to music, before I even got to where I am in the industry,” Jashii said.
Jashii’s musical catalogue fits closely with the clean music that patrons have long enjoyed at Rebel Salute.
The music festival commenced with the sixth annual Herb Conference on Thursday (January 19), held in association with the St Ann Ganja Growers Association at Hotbox Jamaica in Bonham Springs, St Ann.
The Herb Conference continues throughout the two-day music festival with various exhibits, product displays, educational demonstrations, and an international panel discussion.
The festival will also feature for first time in Rebel Salute history, a Puff & Paint Session will also be hosted by the Herb Curb.
Queen Ifrica rounds out the final lineup for ‘The Peoples Show’ Night 2 on Saturday (January 21).
She announced her performance on her social media.
A staple on Rebel Salute, Queen Ifrica told fans what to expect for the tw-day festival.
She said: “Yeah man, nice vibes, good energy, clean food, clean music, clean lifestyle, yeah.”
That’s in line with the festival’s mission of 29 years – No Alcohol, No Meat, No Weapons, Authentic Reggae Music & Edutainment.
The music festival is set to take place today (January 20) and tomorrow.
Night 2 also features the Dubplate Showcase between world-famous DynamIQ from South Sudan, who more recently competed on the Welcome to Jamrock Cruise, and DJ Naz GurlPower, the winner of Guinness Sounds of Greatness 2021.
The DJ, who appeared on the festival once prior, said it should be a good vibe with an African versus Jamaican dub for dub showcase; at the same time, Naz wants to make it clear that she intends to win any showcase against DynamIQ from South Sudan.
DJ Naz said: “I agreed to do the showcase because sound clashes are a huge part of Jamaica’s culture and Rebel Salute is a cultural explosion; at the same time, I’ll go out there to win every time, I’ll face any opponent, so DynamIQ better get ready cause it’s only one Naz GurlPower!”
The showcase takes centrestage for the second time since 2020 and could be a featured item on the festival moving forward.
Additionally, the live reggae music at the festival is complemented by a rich and diverse Food Village, which embodies the festival’s non-alcoholic and no-meat philosophy.
Patrons will also be treated to an attractive Arts Village with unique and authentic items such as paintings, sculptures, clothing, and many other popular craft pieces exclusively created to commemorate your unique Rebel Salute festival experience.
