
Jamaica’s triple jump sensation Jaydon Hibbert is among the finalists for the World Athletics 2024 Men’s Rising Star Award, which will recognize this year’s best U20 athlete at the World Athletics Awards.
The 19-year-old triple jumper is among the three finalists announced on Monday, November 11, for the coveted award, including Mattia Furlani of Italy and Niels Laros of the Netherlands.
Jaydon Hibbert’s remarkable achievements in 2024 have truly set him apart in the world of track and field.
Hibbert currently holds the world U20 outdoor and indoor records in the triple jump. Likewise his performances at both the 2022 and 2023 World U20 Championships showcase his dominance on the global stage.

Winning the Bowerman Award in December 2023—collegiate track and field’s equivalent of the Heisman—was another incredible milestone in his young career, cementing his position as one of the brightest stars in the sport.
All three finalists had standout performances in various international competitions, making this a highly competitive race. It will be interesting to see who takes home the 2024 Men’s Rising Star Award, but Hibbert’s accomplishments this year certainly place him in the mix as a strong contender.
According to the World Athletics, the nominations reflect some of the standout performances that the sport has witnessed this year at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, World Athletics Indoor Championships, World Athletics U20 Championships, World Athletics Cross Country Championships, one-day meeting circuits, and other events around the world.
The winner of the 2024 Men’s Rising Star Award will be announced on World Athletics’ platforms on 1 December.
