Jaydon Hibbert and Kerrica Hill have been nominated for the World Athletics Male and Female Rising Star of the Year awards.
The awards seek to highlight and reward the achievements of athletes who displayed stellar performances at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali, the World Athletics Championships Oregon22 and other events around the world.
At just 17 years old, Hibbert, nominated for the Male Rising Star of the Year award, created a championship record and lifetime best jump of 17.27m. It was a leap that won him the gold at the World U-20 Championships in Cali, Colombia in August.
He is joined by his fellow Jamaican athlete, Hill, who was nominated for the Female Rising Star of the Year Award.

Hill is the World U20 100m hurdles champion with a championship record and a personal best time of 12.77.
This time also qualifies her to be the fastest female in the U20 100m hurdles for the year, and is a world U18 best.
The winners of Rising Star awards will be selected by an international panel of experts and be announced on World Athletics’ social media platforms in early December.
