Jamaica College (JC) Track and Field has announced the addition of four new coaches to its coaching staff aimed at further strengthening its programme in a push to attain Champs glory, having won the trophy in 2021.
JC is the third most successful school with 22 titles behind KC’s 36 and Calabar’s 28. The school finished in the number three spot, 86 points behind KC in 2025, so changes were inevitable.
Head coach Duane Johnson reached out for assistance and has brought in Corey Bennett, who led Hydel Girls to victory twice in the last three years and propelled Calabar to second spot ahead of JC in 2025.
Bennett, who coached a number of Jamaica’s Youth teams, will be in charge of the JC sprinters, an area Johnson said needed help.
“We were underperforming and I knew it was an area that needed to improve,” Johnson pointed out.
JC has also recruited Marvin James and Waseem Williams to assist Bennett with the sprints.
Former Jamaican triple jumper Wilbert Walker also joins the JC staff as a Special Assistant Coach, providing strategic support across various areas of the programme.
“I’m delighted to welcome these experienced coaches to our programme. Their knowledge, energy, and professionalism will make our team more effective and efficient in delivering world-class training to our athletes here at JC,” Johnson explained.
Coach Johnson will continue in his role overseeing the Middle and Long Distance group, while Coach Craig Sewell remains in charge of Hurdles. Coach Ruel James continues with Jumps, and Assistant Head Coach Rajive Ford will maintain his leadership of the Throws group.
