A 30-year-old Jamaican farm worker sustained injuries after he was hit from his pedal cycle by a drunken driver in Canada on Sunday, October 15.

The Westmoreland native reportedly sustained a leg injury that required surgery. He has since been released from the hospital.

In a media statement on Thursday, November 2, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security said the Jamaican Liason Service in Canada has moved apace to hire an attorney-at-law to take legal action on behalf of the farm worker.

It further noted that the liaison service is in contact with both the worker and his family, and will continue to closely monitor the situation.
