JCF launches urgent manhunt for eight escaped inmates

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is appealing to the general public for information that could lead to locating eight escaped inmates, who absconded police custody from the Constant Spring Police lock-up on Tuesday (August 19).

In a statement this morning, the JCF High Command disclosed that one of the escapees, identified as 45-year-old David Rhoden, was recaptured.

“Immediate measures have been put in place to recapture the remaining escapees. Resources have been deployed islandwide to support the recapture of these individuals. The JCF is treating this matter with the highest level of urgency, and all assets are being utilised to return these individuals to custody as swiftly as possible,” the police advised.

The escapees have been identified as:

  • Alunzo Espute, 19, of Cassava Piece in Kingston 8. He was charged with murder.
  • Brandon Ennis, 27, of Belvedere in Red Hills. He was charged with possession of prohibited weapon.
  • Talik Chambers, 23, of Burlington Avenue in Kingston 10. He was charged with identity theft.
  • Dorique Douglas, 25, of Upper Oxford Street in Kingston. He was charged with wounding with intent, shooting with intent and malicious destruction of property.

  • Fray Messias, 18, of Pinto in Stony Hills in St. Andrew. He was charged with rape.
  • Richard Bishop, 19, of Olympic Way in Kingston. He was charged with burglary and larceny.
  • Junior Anthony Barnes, a 31-year-old of Iron River in Golden Spring. He was charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorised ammunition.
  • Kamal Kelly, 25 years old of Mannings Hill District in Stony Hill, St Andrew. He was charged with shooting with intent.

The JCF issued an assurance to the public “that “every effort is being made to swiftly resolve this situation, and further updates will be provided as the operation progresses”.
