Today (November 20) is the annual conference of the Jamaica Labour Party, now under way at the National Arena in Kingston.

But somehow the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) didn’t get the memo and sent out a notice indicating the People’s National Party (PNP) was having its annual conference.

Oops!

The PNP held its annual conference last month and it was well attended and generally well received.

“Licensed firearm holders are advised to make the necessary arrangements to ensure the safeguarding of their weapons, as no provisions have been made for their storage at the venue.”

Today JCF put out a notice that read: “The Police are advising persons who will be attending the 84th annual conference of the People’s National Party at the National Arena on Sunday November 20th that no firearms, drugs, knives, ice picks, machetes, umbrellas (long ones), glass bottles or any other item that can be used to cause serious harm or injury will be allowed inside the venue.

“Licensed firearm holders are advised to make the necessary arrangements to ensure the safeguarding of their weapons, as no provisions have been made for their storage at the venue.”

This was definitely a failure of communication. Does anyone have a tissue to wipe off this egg?
