JCF officers detained as INDECOM investigates fatal shooting in East Kingston

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) High Command has instructed that the policemen involved in a recent fatal shooting incident in East Kingston be detained while the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) continues its probe.

The incident, which occurred on the morning of November 10, 2024, reportedly involves two members from the Kingston East Division. 

The members report that, while on patrol, they encountered a group of men along Windward Road. It is reported that during the encounter, gunfire was exchanged, resulting in the deaths of three men. One of the members sustained a non-life-threatening injury, and two illegal firearms were reportedly recovered from the scene.

According to the High Command, the request for the officers to be detained is based on information received relating to the recent fatal shooting.

It reiterated its full support of members who act within the law in the execution of their duties and are committed to the principle of accountability. 

The High Command also assured the public of its commitment to support thorough and impartial investigations carried out by INDECOM, ensuring that the ends of justice are served.
