Detectives from the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch (C-TOC) seized approximately 1,000 parcels of cocaine valued at JM$150 million during an operation in Hanover on Sunday, August 3.
The C-TOC operations team conducted a pre-dawn operation between 4:00 am and 5:00 am, during which they searched a premises and discovered the illicit drugs. No arrests were made in connection with this seizure; however, the police are pursuing strong leads to apprehend those involved.
Acting Senior Superintendent of Police Victor Barrett of C-TOC stated that this operation is part of a larger effort to target transnational crime syndicates.
“This operation is the result of an extensive and sustained investigation into a major drug trafficking network believed to be involved in multiple smuggling attempts over time. Several key individuals linked to the syndicate have been identified, and investigative efforts are ongoing,” said Barrett. “С-TOC continues to implement the Focused Deterrence Strategy established by the Police High Command to target the major players in these drug rings,” he added.
