The Jamaica Council for Persons with Disabilities (JCPD) is urging members of the disabled community to beware of a misleading message being circulated on the social media platform, WhatsApp, regarding the availability of assistive grants.

The JCPD has dismissed the WhatsApp message as fake, noting that it does not currently have any advertisements for assistive grants.

“Remember, all information from the council will have our official logo and tagline. For verification of accurate information on the services we provide, visit our official website at www.jcpd.gov.jm,” the council said in a statement.

The JCPD is urging greater accountability among the Jamaican population in ensuring accurate information reaches those in need.

JCPD is the agency that promotes the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities in accordance with National policies, plans and programmes, within the legislative framework.
