Jamaica College’s head coach, Davion Ferguson, will be out of action for at least six weeks after breaking his leg in four places following an horrific car crash two Saturdays ago on Old Hope Road.
Ferguson, who took charge of JC in 2019, told Our Today that he was hospitalised for three days and is recovering well but considered lucky to be alive.
“I had to hit the wall to stay alive,” Ferguson told Our Today.
“When people and the doctor looked at the accident, they were amazed,” he noted.
The former National Under-17 coach, who is also the assistant coach at premier league outfit Mount Pleasant, said he is still feeling pain as his ribs are still sore.
Ferguson could be seen on the sidelines in crutches while his team defeated Excelsior High 3-1 in their ISSA Digicel Manning Cup match at the Ashenheim Stadium on Wednesday.

“Physically, I am not there yet, but I try to be there at the games to give support,” he explained.
Ferguson had led JC to two Manning Cup titles in 2019 and 2022 and the all-island Champion Cup crown in 2022.
The unbeaten JC currently lead Zone F with 19 points courtesy of winning six of their seven games while scoring an impressive 57—the most in the Manning Cup—and conceding just three goals.
In the feature match on Wednesday, JC whipped Excelsior High 3-1 and took charge of the group . Excelsior are second on 13 points but have a game in hand.
Nashordo Gibbs gave JC a 39th-minute lead before Kimarly Scott pulled Excelsior levelled in minute 50. But Javaun Mills restored JC’s advantage in the 58th minute at home before Amarlie King put the icing on the cake in stoppage time.
