JDF Co-Operative Credit Union (JDFCCU) is offering scholarships to its members aged 11 to 18 as part of its Annual Treasure Chest Scholarship.
The credit union recently launched the 2024 Treasure Chest Scholarship as part of its commitment to educational advancement and community support.
“This initiative is a key part of our effort to ease the financial burden on families as they gear up for the new school year… By supporting our young members, we aim to promote academic success and provide crucial financial assistance during the back-to-school period,” JDFCCU shared in a press release.
This year, students at various academic stages, including Primary Exit Profile (PEP) graduates and Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC)/Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) students, will benefit from the scholarship.

Applications are open and the deadlines for PEP and CSEC/CAPE students are August 15th and 30th 2024 respectively.
The scholarship offers significant financial aid, with awards maximum $40,000 for PEP students and up to $70,000 for CSEC/CAPE students. These funds should reduce the financial pressure on parents and guardians, allowing them to concentrate on their children’s education and well-being.
As such, JDFCCU encourages students still pursuing CSEC/CAPE subjects to reapply for the Treasure Chest Scholarship by submitting their report from the last school year. To remain eligible, students must maintain a B average or higher.

“At JDF Co-Operative Credit Union, we understand the vital role education plays in shaping our community’s future,” said Donna Brown, chairperson, JDFCCU Treasure Chest Scholarship Committee.
“The Treasure Chest Scholarship is not just financial support; it reflects our ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation and assisting our members during challenging times.”
While encouraging members to take advantage of the opportunity, the credit union points them to its website for further details. They may also contact the JDFCCU office.
