Medical cannabis dispensary JACANA pulled out all the stops in its celebration of 4/20 this year in Jamaica, with half-off deals on customer favourites, live entertainment and more.
It was really a no-brainer for Anna Blankson, senior retail manager of JACANA’s New Kingston outlet, who told Our Today that the company wants Jamaica to be synonymous with the annual cannabis ‘holiday’ as Mexico is with Cinco de Mayo.
“Well, the biggest deal with JACANA is that we have the finest cannabis in Jamaica. We are all organically grown and home right here in St Ann. Specifically for [4/20], we have in dispensaries a 50 per cent off deal on all JACANA lines of flower,” she explained.
“JACANA is really Jamaican cannabis, unique to our country, and just the same way we would associate tequila with Mexico, we want to ensure JACANA is the flagship in Jamaican cannabis. So, we’re offering deals on our premium quality cannabis,” Blankson added.
The company is also offering deals on pre-rolls, where customers purchase two and get one for free. Vape deals are also available for 4/20 enthusiasts, on a ‘buy one get another half off’ arrangement.
JACANA further boasts a wellness line consisting of CBD oils (cannabidiol), balms and tinctures for customers who may still want the benefits of their organic cannabis without the ‘puffing’.
As JACANA nears its three-year anniversary in 2022, for Blankson, the company’s calling card is the hallmark of quality, a wholly-Jamaican brand with a pulse on the latest developments in medical cannabis and its acclaimed customer service.

Nestled in Unit 9 of the newly refurbished New Kingston Business Centre, JACANA’s centrally-located outlet is also twinned with a café, a move very intentional on the dispensary’s part.
“New Kingston is the heart of Kingston and in here is quite a commercial space and we want persons to understand that JACANA is not only representing the finest cannabis but we bring another fantastic product which is coffee!” the senior manager told Our Today.
“We’re known worldwide for coffee and JACANA wants to be a flagship for those partners as well. We have our café with fantastic, trained baristas. Even though we are still a young cafe, we’ve had rave reviews; a lot of persons stop here over our partners in New Kingston, so it is unique,” noted Blankson.
JACANA has already hosted a series of events across their four locations including ganja education talks and marijuana exhibits at their newly opened Island Village, Ocho Rios location in St Ann.

All roads lead to the group’s Portmore outlet, however, for the main event hosted by Grammy-nominated, JACANA brand ambassador Jesse Royal.

“A big part of cannabis culture is entertainment and so, both in our Ocho Rios and Portmore locations, we’ll be having entertainment specials with our ambassador Jesse Royal and his friends this evening,” mused Blankson.
“We’ve already started the party in Ocho Rios and later today, we’ll have that extended to our Portmore right by McMaster Plaza. JACANA is really a brand that is here to bring out the best of Jamaica. We are the finest cannabis on Earth and we want to ensure the best of Jamaica—our entertainers, coffee, and fantastic cuisine are also put on show for 4/20. And, of course, the deals are here for you!” she told Our Today.
Launched in 2018, JACANA has rapidly made its mark within Jamaica with a diverse product range of medical-grade cannabis, which has encouraged the company to expand into four locations, Manor Park and New Kingston in St Andrew, Portmore in St Catherine and Island Village in Ocho Rios, St Ann.
