The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has named a 23-man squad for the next round of FIFA World Cup qualifiers starting with a clash on Thursday (January 27) against Mexico at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Interim coach Paul Hall’s selections exclude Leon Bailey through injury and Shamar Nicholson, who has made himself unavailable because of obligations to new club Spartak Moscow. Also missing is veteran midfielder Jevaughn Watson.

However, Brentford FC defender Ethan Pinnock has earned a recall to the Reggae Boyz set-up, while former Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart earns a maiden call.

The full squad includes forwards Michail Antonio, Andre Gray, Cory Burke, Junior Flemmings, Bobby Reid and Javon East. In midfield, Devon Williams, Lamar Walker, Kevin Stewart, Ravel Morrison, Peter-Lee Vassell and Daniel Johnson have earned selection to the squad.

Liam Moore, Adian Mariappa, Damion Lowe, Kemar Lawrence, Gregory Leigh, Javain Brown and Alvas Powell form the defenders’ pool while Andre Blake, Dwayne Miller and Amal Knight are the goalkeepers.

Currently sixth in the CONCACAF standings, Jamaica will face Mexico at the National Stadium in Kingston on January 27 before travelling to Panama for their next match on January 30 for what are must-win encounters. The penultimate round of qualifiers concludes with Jamaica hosting Costa Rica at the National Stadium on February 2.

Jamaica has seven points from their eight matches so far with only one win.
