President of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) Michael Ricketts remembered former national football player Boysie Nicholson as someone with a strong personality.
Nicholson, who represented Reno FC and donned the Jamaican gears, died after battling Parkinson’s disease for several years.
In a statement Ricketts said the JFF is mourning the passing of former national player who represented Jamaica with distinction while pulling the strings for western kingpins Reno FC.
“Boysie had a strong personality which worked well for club and country. He was a tower of strength in midfield. He has been ailing for some years, and the Father has called him home,” said Ricketts.
“We hope he will find eternal rest. Sincere condolences to his family and friends and the Reno FC fraternity,” he added.
Nicholson became a household name in Jamaica by putting Westmoreland-based Reno on the map as a player then as a coach in the 1980s, before they won back-to-back Premier League titles in 1989/1990 and 1990/1991, then again in 1995.
Nicholson also coached Frome Technical High School to their only DaCosta Cup title in 2003.
